Butterfly Face
I had a difficult decision to make, and I was up against some fairly great odds. In order to live out my life the way that I had always dreamed, I had to make a decision that appeared in my mind to be inconceivable. I was overwhelmed by the problem and felt paralyzed by fear. I prayed for clarification and trusted the Lord for the answer. When I closed my eyes in prayer, I saw a picture of the ugliest thing that I have ever seen, this thought came "if you magnify a butterfly face a 1000 times, what does it look like?" I thought for a moment and realized that the horrific thing I had just been shown was the face of a butterfly. My revelation: if you stare at the face of the butterfly, you will miss the glory in its wings.
I admit this seems simplistic; however, amid great trials, there comes a moment when we have to stop staring at the ugly "what if's" and begin to look for positive endings...which requires that we believe that there is one. In this mindset, I so easily connect with a leadership trait called Appreciative Intelligence.
Look at the wings. See the Glory of God. Move forward with anticipation that good can come out of the mess.
